Chris Devonshire-Ellis

Chris Devonshire-Ellis is the founder of Dezan Shira & Associates, a foreign direct investment advisory firm established in 1992, which now maintain offices in Vietnam, China, Hong Kong and India. The firm specialises in accounting, tax, corporate establishment and payroll. Previous to establishing the firm, Chris worked in Asia working for firms including Asia Law & Practice and the international law firm Mossack Fonseca.

Chris founded the Asia Briefing publishing house in 1999, which publishes a number of Asia business news sites and magazines, including China-Briefing.com. He has edited a number of the publishing house’s technical and regional guides, and has also had his own books published, including a travel guide to Mongolia.

Chris stepped down from his position as managing partner of the China Practice in 2007 and now heads the firm’s India practice, based in Delhi and Mumbai. He is heavily involved in the legal, tax and operational issues affecting multinationals operating in South East Asia.

Chris is an elected member of the United Nations Development Programme business advisory council for North East Asia.
